It is of course on Fay’s excellent Looking Glass CD as well, although you’ll already know that (won’t you!) I’ve not much to add to that except that the family’s location can certainly be changed to suit your purpose, should any of you be singing this out and about.

Her debut solo CD, Looking Glass, is built around a striking repertoire of often obscure material drawn from rarely-thumbed collections. This spicy stew of songs and ballads, catches and caprices was recorded with accompaniment from Rob Habron (English Acoustic Collective), Sam Sweeney & Jon Boden (Bellowhead).5/5(1).

With a haunting voice and sparse accompaniment, Fay Hield tackles these songs with gusto, and, it is a joy to listen to. King Henry, Mad Family and The Looking Glass are the stand-out tracks at the moment to me, but, with more plays that may change, not that I will stop loving said tracks, but, in all honesty there isn't a bad track on the album, so, favourites will come and go, it really is that sort of /5(10).

Fay Hield is one of folk music's most pre-eminent modern voices and this confident, traditional album underlies her current lofty protcadabbcrafiramtoracycbedyran.xyzinfo helps, of course, to have the outstanding Sam Sweeney, Rob Harbron, Roger Wilson, Ben Nicholls, Toby Kearney, Jon Boden and Martin Simpson backing her, but her gift for unearthing colourful material and then delivering it with both swagger and soul is.
