Take a Whiff on Me (Live) Take a Whiff on Me (Live) out of 5 stars Untitled/Unissued- The Byrds. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 18, Verified Purchase. Great, absolutely great to have this album I used to own on vinyl, only in cd format it now has much more music added to it. The music itself is wonderful and this /5(57).

The only song on the album to get heard by people other than serious Byrds fanatics was McGuinn's "Chestnut Mare," but "Truck Stop Girl," "All the Things," the group's version of Leadbelly's "Take a Whiff on Me," and, especially, "Just a Season" (maybe the prettiest song McGuinn has ever written) also hold up very well. Other numbers, like the.

The two-CD set Untitled/Unissued contains the Byrds' Untitled album (originally a double LP) on disc one, and 14 previously unissued alternate versions, studio recordings, and live performances on disc two. This was not the Byrds' most exciting era, but a lot of extra material existed, and Untitled was going to be reissued either way. Untitled itself was one of the Byrds' better late.

Don't get me wrong, I love Gene Clark, Chris Hillmann and David Crosby, but I think they did they're best work after leaving the band. I also love the earlier Byrds albums, but this one works for me as an album, instead of just a collection of songs/5(58).
